Non-BJP government will provide free power to ryots across India: Telangana CM Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao

HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday continued to attack the Narendra Modi government at the Centre over the freebie-vs-welfare schemes debate.

Speaking at a public meeting at Giriraj College grounds in Nizamabad town, the TRS supremo asserted that a non-BJP government would come to power at the Centre in 2024. "The new government would provide 24X7 free power to farmers across the country on the lines of Telangana,"He Said. "The only achievement of the modi government is giving lands to corporate and bulldozing non-BJP governments in states"

During a state cabinet meeting on Saturday, his government had decided to increase the number of Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries in each assembly constituency by five times.

Defending welfare schemes run by various governments, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao vowed to continue his efforts for what he called a "BJP-mukt Bharat".

Speaking at a public meeting at Giriraj College grounds in Nizamabad town, KCR termed the central government as anti-people and anti-farmer. As he has done in a string of recent public meetings, he sought the blessings of the people to play a key role in national politics.

"The Modi government calls all welfare schemes as freebies and is asking state governments to stop them. The same Modi government waived 12 lakh crore worth bank loans to corporates. Even if the government provides free power to all farmers in the country, the cost would be about 1.45 lakh crore," KCR said.

Earlier, the chief minister inaugurated the new district collectorate constructed at a cost of 53 crore and the TRS party office at Yellammagutta in the district headquarters.

KCR told a large gathering later that Modi had done nothing for Dalits and weaker sections in the past eight years except increasing fuel, gas rates, and causing inflation in the country.
