ISRO scientist Nambi’s arrest was illegal, 1994 espionage case was false: CBI informs Kerala HC

Scientist Nambi Narayan's arrest was illegal and the 1994 espionage case against the ISRO scientist was false and foisted, CBI officials informed the Kerala HC on Thursday when the court was considering the bail plea of the accused officers.

The Central Bureau of Investigation informed the Kerala High Court on Friday that the 1994 espionage case against Indian Space Research Organisation scientist Nambi Narayanan was false and that his arrest was illegal.

The CBI informed the Kerala High Court that the fake espionage case was a serious matter involving national security and that foreign powers were involved in the conspiracy to foist a false case against eminent scientists of ISRO.

The court was further informed by Nmabi Narayana’s advocate that the case was foisted to stall the cryogenic engine which was crucial for India’s space research program.

This remark was made while the Kerala HC was hearing the case registered by CBI against the officers who conducted an enquiry against Nambi Narayanan in the 1990s.

The CBI made this statement while the court was considering the bail plea of the accused officers.

The ABVP Telangana has called for a bandh for non-distribution of textbooks to the schools in Telangana and for the arrest of 34 ABVP leaders. The arrested ABVP leaders of Osmania University were reportedly protesting against the delay in distribution of textbooks in schools on July 2 in front of the Commissioner and Directorate of School Education office in Lakdikapul. According to sources from ABVP, 9 leaders were remanded and sent to Chanchaluguda jail Including ABVPTelangana State Secretary Praveen Reddy.
