Hyderabad: All the schools in Telangana-government and private will remain closed on 5 July as the Akhil Bharathiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP) has called for a statewide bandh in schools. The ABVP Telangana has called for a bandh for non-distribution of textbooks to the schools in Telangana and for the arrest of 34 ABVP leaders.

The arrested ABVP leaders of Osmania University were reportedly protesting against the delay in distribution of textbooks in schools on July 2 in front of the Commissioner and Directorate of School Education office in Lakdikapul. According to sources from ABVP, 9 leaders were remanded and sent to Chanchaluguda jail Including ABVPTelangana State Secretary Praveen Reddy.

"Even after 20 days of reopening of schools, textbooks have not been distributed to them. Also, there is no infrastructure, facilities, washrooms, etc. in many schools. This is our main demand for tomorrow's bandh," said  ABVPTelangana State Joint Secretary Kamal Suresh and Research Scholar, Osmania University.
